Program description and what is included

Intensive English 26 lessons per week

09.30 - 13.10 Monday to Friday

14.00 - 16.45 Two afternoons 

Combining Standard Course with 6-afternoon lessons focusing on improving speaking and listening skills.

The Intensive Course concentrates on the four main areas of language learning: reading, writing, listening & speaking. We use a communicative approach to learning, focusing on English used in everyday real-life situations. Our approach to learning encompasses real skills required for modern-day living including critical thinking, communication through digital & social media, creativity, collaboration and problem-solving. The first-morning session concentrates on improving present knowledge of grammar and vocabulary. The second is fluency based, improving the communication skills of each client.

Upper inter (B2) & Advanced (C1)

Start: Every Monday (all year round)

Class Size: Small groups, average 10 (Max 14)

The Standard Course is excellent for both short and longer study stays. It is also the popular choice for students wishing to register for an Academic Year visa.

Student Profile Students are 18 years +, with an average age of 27 years. Average 25 nationalities each year with the majority from Europe.

Description

A year-round school in the city centre with good prices and small class sizes. The owners, the Horner family, create a relaxed atmosphere conducive to learning. The school welcomes students from all over the world, most of them from Western Europe.

Horner School is located in the heart of Dublin on the most prestigious street, Fitzwilliam. The school building is just 5 minutes from Grafton Street and the main public transport links. 

Class assignments and teaching methods promote rapid integration and progression in language learning. Highly qualified teachers monitor the progress of each student throughout the course. The curriculum is designed for all levels of English proficiency. On the first day, students are tested and allocated to the appropriate class. There are morning and afternoon classes, free time and a social programme after the lessons. The school has modern classrooms, a library, a computer room and wi-fi internet access.

We offer general and business English courses, preparation for major international exams and afternoon classes for those who like to sleep in in the morning.

Homestay accommodation maybe with a host family, in a residence, apartment or hotel. All families are carefully selected and checked by the Horner family.

In the University Residence - Dublin Student Residence accommodation is arranged in modern townhouses within 20 minutes walking distance of the school, with a separate bedroom and shared lounge/kitchen. 

Baggot City Residence is very close to the school - rates per week start from €225. There are single and double rooms with shared bathroom facilities. All have fully equipped kitchens. 

Homestay accommodation includes breakfast and dinner during the week and three meals a day at the weekend.

Free Time

The school organises an events programme each week including visits to Dublin Castle, The Distillery, Theatre, Irish music evenings and much more. Dublin attractions range from famous museums and art galleries to the Guinness Brewery and Temple Bar. The street cafes are filled with music and the buzz of conversation.
